Homework
I HATE homework! It can be soooooooooo stressful. Especially when you get lost of homework from multiple classes and you don't have much time to do it because you have a sport or activity after school. What are you thoughts on homework? Leave a reply about what you think.

Social Studies 4/30/14

• Thomas Hutchinson
• Jonathan Boucher
• Lord Dunmore

A: I would be most like Thomas Hutchinson.

Write a conversation between you and a Loyalists.

Loyalist - Thomas
Me - Megan
_____________________________________

Megan: Hi, Thomas Hutchinson is it? My name is Megan and I am new to the whole loyalist concept. I just joined this side and I need to know what being a loyalist is all about. Could you explain it to me?

Thomas: Sure, Megan, you seem trustworthy enough. Being a loyalist mean you need to show that you are in control. You have to be dedicated and to show your power rarely smile.

Megan: Ok, so you basically have to glare at everyone? Even the people you are related to?

Thomas: Yep, as a loyalist you have to believe that without the King George to guide us we really would not be here right now.

Megan: But the question is do we really need him?

Thomas: Of course! You would not be saying that if you were a loyalist.

Megan: Ok, I understand.

Thomas: I for one think that the patriots are unable to govern themselves. I think that is really all you need to know for now.

Megan: Yes, I agree with everything you just said. I really appreciate you taking the time to talk to me.

Thomas: Bye and may you live a wonderful life, Megan.

Q: Choose one of the following patriots you are most like.

• Ben Franklin
• Mercy Otis Warren
• Sam Adams

A: I am most like Sam Adams.

Create a conversation between you and the person you choose:

Patriot - Sam

Me - Megan
_______________________________________________

Megan: Excuse me Mr. Adams? Hi, My name is Megan and both my parents are patriots. I am 11 and always hear them talking about you and how wise you are and how stupid the loyalists are. Most of the time I don't understand what they are saying. Could you explain the basics of being a patriot to me?

Sam: First, thank you for the complement. I do try hard. Second of course I will tell you.

Megan: Thanks!

Sam: The first thing you need to know about being a patriot is that patriots believe that colonist should not have to pay my taxes on British goods.

Megan: Ok, so basically all those high taxes that my parents complain about are bad?

Sam: Yep, very bad. Lots of people like myself argue with the King about these taxes through newspaper articles.

Megan: Doing that could also get peoples attention about how the King is bad, right?

Sam: Exactly, you could also give speeches at public meeting that a lot of people attend like me.

Megan: I think I get is now. Thank Mr. Adams!

Sam: Your Welcome! And tell your parents that they seem awesome Megan!

Swimming
I have the first day of swimming today. We are starting a new swim season. I swim on a team called BBD or Brimingham Blue Dolphons. I really like swimming and I also compete in Triatholons and running races. The only bad thing about practice today is that it is 2 hours! :-( That is really long! Well got to go to it. Wish me luck!

Short Play 4/28/14

Short Play for Social Studies:
By Aria and Megan
Characters-
Loyalist - Fred
Patriot - Ben
Neutral - Jessica
_____________________

Narrarator: A long time ago in 1754, a fight was breaking out among a patriot, a loyalist, and a neutral citizen.

Jessica: Oh boy! Looks like a war will be starting, and I need a side to join! The only problem is, I don't know what side to choose!

Fred: Join the loyalists! We are obviously going to win! We have King George III on our side! He is teeming with power and will provide his soldiers with anything they need to survive!

Ben: I think NOT! The loyalists take all of our profits for there stinkin' taxes, and we are left with nothing! Not only that but they will not let us for independence!!!

Narrarator: Fred and Ben bickered back and forth, until Jessica stopped the fight with her dessicion.

Fred: I think that Ben is just over exaggerating King George III and I--

Jessica: STOP! I have had enough! My dessicion is final, and I know who I will pick. You both had great reasons and good offers, but the side side that is fit for me, is the Patriots!

Ben: Yay! In your face Fred! Hahaha!

Fred: This is not over!

Ben: Oh but it is!

Narrarator: And they lived happily ever after. The End!

Complaint Letter Final Draft 4/21/14

My Adress

Rick Joseph, Teacher
Birmingham Covington School
School Adress

Dear, Mr. Joseph
Recently I have been constantly bothered by the fact that your students in Language Arts and Social Studies both seem to not take other students feeling into effect. The students are always talking out of turn. Whenever I am trying to work I am hardly ever productive because so many of your students talk to there friends when you specifically mention beforehand that it is individual work time.

Selfishness leads to this problem. When kids are to busy talking to there friends they are not being productive as well as making the kids around them not productive as well. I feel that the kids are affecting others work and will continue to talk until a teacher tells them to stop. Which almost never
happens.

It was about a month ago when we were taking the unit test for writing. I of course was very into my work and was writing away when suddenly one of the kids not to far from where I was sitting started talking to there friends. I tried to concentrate but the kids kept on talking. Of course no one would tell them to stop so I was kept from finishing my test and had to do it for homework.

I want all kids good or bad to be able to work in a noise and distraction free environment. But, currently that has not been the case. My fellow student, Aria M. agrees with me. "People should focus on there work and NOT there friends" she says. Aria also says that recently the kids around her have been to busy talking about games and not doing there work. She said that they are effecting the kids around them including her preventing her from doing her work. Proving my point entirely.

I proposing a solution to this work preventing problem. Teachers, should try to enforce the rules of working. When they just "let it slide" it makes kids believe you don't take them seriously and they will keep doing it.
In conclusion, this is a problem that needs fixing to help kids like me be able to work harder and not be bothered by others.

Sincerely,
Megan C

Easter Eggs.
Right now we are dying Easter eggs for Easter tomorrow. I am going to dye mine pink and if we have stickers I will put a few of those on it. Tomorrow I will eat my egg but don't worry it is hard boiled so if it drops on the ground when we are dying it the yolk won't spill on the floor.

Poetry Slam
At my school we have something called a poetry slam. The poetry slam is bassically a competition were you have to read a poem that you wrote or that someone else wrote. Last year I did not do so well so this year I am working harder on my poem so I have a better chance of getting a good place.

At my school it is the end of the quarter and I know someone with 1 assignment that affected there entire grade! :-( I hate it when you try to get your grade up but whatever you do it just stays at a D/C. What do you think about grades!? Comment with you thoughts.

Earth Day, Birthday
My little sister named Anna and my mom have the same birthday on earth day (4/22/14.) Or as my grandma calls there birthday Earth Day, Birthday. They were both born around the same time as well it is remarkable how much of a coincidence it is. I really hope there birthday is great and they feel that it is exactly how they always though it would be.

The Incredible Hulk

Land of Adventure in Orlando, Florida is home to a huge variety of theme parks and rides. I was just there yesterday with my family of 5 people (2 adults, and 3 kids.) With such a variety of things it was hard to pick just one that I liked the most, but after a while of thinking I finally decided that The Incredible Hulk ride was my favorite by far. Full of twists, turns, loops, and sudden drops, this high speed ride is one of the most popular attractions in the park.

I got to go on it twice and experience twice the fun that most people get to have. My two little sisters were both to small to go on so they had to wait in the child swap area with my mom while I went on with my dad. Then when we were done my dad waited with my sisters while I went on with my mom. It is so much fun because you start by going up an tunnel then as you near the top the roller coaster lets out a sudden burst of speed and you go into a loop and you don't even expect it!! It was the best part of the entire trip and I can't wait to do it again.

Today Kate Messener came to our school to talk about her writing. If most of you don't know she is a battle book author and she wrote 'Capture the Flag.' She was very inspiring and she told lots of great story to us about how she was inspred to write the books she wrote. She is a great story teller and seems like a really nice lady.
