Short Story
"Surface!" Vivian said suddenly. We are done! We had just finished our science packets and had free time for the rest of the Science class. Finnally I am free I thought. Free to do my homework, free to read, free to enjoy the life I was born to live.

Year-Round Schools
By Megan

No, I do not think we should have year-round schools because they have just as good learning opportunities as regular schools and are just about the same amount of days as regular schools. “We found that students in year-round schools learn more during the summer, when others are on vacation, but they seem to learn less than other children during the rest of the year,” said Paul von Hippel (Ohio State Research.) Showing that the students attending year round schools learn just as much as children in regular schools do creates another reason why year round schooling is a bad idea.
"Most often, year-round schooling is not an extension of the school year, but, rather, a reorganization of it" (Education Week.) Finding that there is a small extension if any at all, we can say that with the breaks spread out more the school year would not be that different.
"Year- round schools continue to operate 180 days per year, but they stretch out the 180 days over the entire year and take shorter breaks between each term" (National Education Association.) As the breaks are more spread out the school year shows that you would be going to school just about the same amount as you would in a regular school. In conclusion, year round schools are found to not increase learning and are the same amount of school as a regular school.

Short Story
As I wait anxiously I feel sad and betrayed. I stare out the window into a snow covered world caked with ice. I have a feeling that I never want to feel again. A feeling so painful it caused my death to be 6 months ahead of schedule.

Poem
Your mind is a maze
It twists and turns in all directions
You never know what to expect
It bends like a tree on a windy day
And controls you like a man controls there dog
It can get you in trouble but can also lead you to great success
There are many things to discover about the human mind
So discover them

Short Story
I stared into the feirce eyes of my attacker as he waved his blod stained knife in front of me thretingly. I new this would be the day of my death as I would never hand over the silk cloth that was tucked in my pocket. Wounded already I attempted to crawl towards the railing of the ship I was sailing but before I could slaid forward one step he kicked me to the ground and held the knife point down atop my heart he raised up the knife and started to bring it dowwn in one swift movment. Seconds before it struck my heart I flung the sacred silk over the railing as I took my last breaths.

The main reason that people don't normally switch over to year round schools is because you are not adding very much days, if at all to regular school. I like a lot of days off at a time but when I get back to school I always have to get back into the routine I was in before school started.

Titanic
As I raced up the stairs I struggled to get through the mob of people that threatened to drown me I found my husband clinging to the railing.
"Fred what are you doing here we have to get on a life boat!" I screamed.
"No, Lucy, I insist you go since there will only be room for women and children"
"I refuse to leave you, I made a vow infront of God that I would stay by your side forever, and if we are to die it MUST be together."

Book Review
The Frog Princess
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This book has many features that can make people be pulled in but at the beginning it can confuse younger readers. But E.D. Baker (the author) should be very proud that she wrote the book that inspired the hit disney movie The Princess and the Frog.  "High - spirited romantic comedy. . . . Fan of Gail Carson Levine's 'Princess Tales' should leap for it." says Kirkus Reviews. I recommend you should read this book is you are into to fantasy.

Short Story
The Titanic
As I watched Kayla's boat slip away her tiny head clutched to the womens face chest I could feel tears stinging in my eyes. Suddenly I felt a lurch and was engulfed in the pitch blackness that had just inclosed me when the great ship lost power. As I sprinted to the bow of the boat terror lurched through me. I clutched the railing as I slowley slid to the dark water that was turning a dream into a nightmare. Knowing that I could never hold on I muttered a paryer to my God and go of the rickity railing. As I fell into the darkness below I closed my eyes and fell.

Short Story
The Titanic
Panic flooded through me as I clutched my newborn baby named Kayla to my chest.  I already had heard that they were loading the last life boat and the the Titanic would go down soon, but even though I was only a 2nd class passenger I knew that I had to get my poor little darling onto a life boat. As I reached the back of the ship were they were loading the life boats I managed to wiggle through the crowd and to the boat. When I saw that it was already being lowered my heart broke into a million peices. So when I decided I would not live to see the day I steped forward and handed my darling to a Women that was close by the rail.  I could tell she felt pity for me and she took my baby and promesed to raise her and keep her safe. I blessed this lady with my hearts content and giving my daughter one last kiss on her little forhead I steped away from the boat.

Small Moment
So, first it is below 0 degrees outside right now and my Mom said that it broke the record for coldest days in Detroit, EVER! Sorry I have not been posting much but I have had a very busy break.  We went skiing at Summit mountain and I got a lot of really neat stuff for Christmas.  Today my mom and I heated up some water and tossed it into the sky. It turned in the smoke as soon as it left the jar! We have a snow day tomorrw at school, and I am hoping it will be even better then this one!
