MSU
Michigan state lost today and did not make it to the final 4. It was a horrible game and by the end I totally gave up. But, I have faith that next year they will do much better and win the entire tournament. This was a big loss for the team but was also the begining of a new path. Go MSU!

Mr. Joseph, Teacher

Dear, Mr. Joseph
Recently I have been constantly bothered by the fact that your students in LA and Social Studies both seem to not take other students feeling into effect, and are always talking out of turn. Whenever I am trying to work I am hardly ever productive because so many of your students talk to there friends when you specifically mention beforehand the it is individual work time.
Selfishness leads to this problem. When kids are to busy talking to there friends they are not being productive as well as making the kids around them not productive as well. I feel that the kids are affecting others work and will continue to talk until a teacher tells them to stop. Which almost never happens.
It was about a month ago when we were taking the unit test for writing. I of course was very into my work and was writing away when suddenly one of the kids not to far from where I was sitting started talking to there friends. I tried to concentrate but the kids kept on talking. Of course no one would tell them to stop so I was kept from finishing my test and had to do it for homework.
I want all kids good or bad to be able to work in a noise and distraction free environment. But, currently that has not been the case. My fellow student, Aria M. agrees with me. "People should focus on there work and NOT there friends" she says. Aria also says that recently the kids around her have been to busy talking about games and not doing there work. She said that they are effecting the kids around them including her preventing her from doing her work. Proving my point entirely.
I proposing a solution to this work preventing problem. Teachers, should try to enforce the rules of working. When they just "let it slide" it makes kids believe you don't take them seriously and they will keep doing it.
In conclusion, this is a problem that needs fixing to help kids like me be able to work harder and not be bothered by others.

Short Story
Right now I am in Columbus, Ohio for the Zone swim meet! I am so exited for the meet to begin! I am here with my Dad and my Grandparents. I am staying in a Hotel called Courtyard Marriott. We just got back from Breakfast and we ate at a Buffet and I am stuffed! You would not believe how warm it is here! Right now it is in the mid 40's and there is not a single speck of snow anywhere. I got here yesterday night and I can't wait for the swim meet to begin!

My papa does not live here anymore, he was sold separately to a man that owns a cotton plantation in Georgia. I really miss him. I think about him every night and pray the he has a roof over his head and a pot of stew simmering on his stove.

Short Story
Tick, tick, tick, went the clock that stood mounted on the wall of the classroom 25B. I could feel the anxiousness that hung in the air of the class room. "1 minute left until summer vacation" Vicky exidently whispered to me. It was almost time and suddenly everyone got eerily quite as the clock hand moved from 2:59 to 3:00. There was a brief moment of silence and then BONG! The bell rang. It was summer and we were free.

How to do a Flipturn:
1) Pick a stroke to swim ( freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, or butterfly)
2) Swim into to the wall at a normal pace in the stroke you picked
3) When you reach the wall do a flip but stop halfway and plant your feet on the wall
4) Then push off the wall powerfully and swim to the other end

Short Story
Today is the day of the blizzard. The blizzard that is supposed to be so bad your doors get blocked. I can see it forming and bit by bit caking the world with white. The snow started by coming down in flakes, then balls, then chunks so big I could put it in a bowl.

Happiness.
Being happy is a wonderful thing. But, when that happiness floates away it leaves you with a cold dark soul taken over by sadness. When a close family member passes away there is no happy in you. There is no madness or fear just sadness. You might feel all sad but if you search every nook and cranny you will always find a little joy that grows and makes that dark place in your soul light.

Swimming
Swimming is one of many sports that involve water. It is done by diving off platforms that are mounted onto a deck called blocks and into the water and by moving parts of your body in different ways to help you get down to the other end of the pool as fast as you can.

A swimming pool can be measured yards or meters and is usually 25 yards or meter long. If you have ever watched the swimming Olympics you might notice that it is longer then 25 yards, that is because it is 2 times the size of a regular pool.

Most people may think that swimming is boring and that you are really just flailing around in the water. But, once you have all the basics down and you really get into it the sport can be pretty amazing.

There are 4 main strokes in the sport. Butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, and freestyle. At swimming meets were you go and compete against other swimmers your age there is a huge variety of events. The events are measured in 25s so instead of saying 1 lap freestyle you would say 25 freestyle and instead of 2 laps backstroke you might say 50 backstroke.

If you were to ever join a swim team you would need to know some key terms. For example, heat, lane, event, and marshaling. Heat means your group. If there are to many kids all signed up for the same thing the meet directors might split them into groups and have one group swim at a time. Your lane in the section you are swimming in. Like if a pool could be split into 8 sections one person would swim in a section or lane at a time. A event is a key term for when you swim. Like if a coach told me I was in event 3 then that is when I would swim. Finally, marshaling is were volunteers split you into your groups so when you get in line you won't be confused.

Right now if you are considering joining a sports team I know swimming is the right choice.

Project C.O.P.E
Project C.O.P.E is a nation wide project that raises money to send to a rural village in Zambia called Chilupula. All over the country different areas work on different things to send to Zambia and my school is working on sending them a 2 wheel tractor. Sending them this tractor will help them build a more sustainable economy and bring them out of poverty.
